Friends – SDR needs YOU!
Here’s the story: It’s been a wild several weeks around here that started with taking in 5 deserving dogs who not only ended up at SDR through no fault of their own, but who also ended up having medical concerns – some of them major. We are still gathering info and getting estimates on the costs of all of these, but the estimates are going to be high, we’re not going to lie. And although our wonderful vet partners give us a much appreciated discount, there are just so many coming in all at once. SDR is one of the few rescues that will not turn dogs away because of medical conditions.
In addition to all of this, we recently got word of a big rescue effort happening at a puppy mill in North Dakota and were asked to help. We were able to save 3 of the mill dogs thanks to some phenomenal fosters.
We LOVE getting dogs out of horrible situations and also taking in dogs with medical conditions that no other rescue will take. Many times dogs are also surrendered or brought to us with health issues that are unknown until we have the dog fully and properly vetted. In these cases, the costs are unforeseen and take a huge financial toll on us, but we NEVER say no. Never. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a chance at a loving, healthy life.
Here’s where YOU come in! We are currently in need of extra funding for the extra vetting expenses that we’ve incurred as a result of our recent rescue efforts. If you agree with us that every dog deserves a happy and healthy chance at life and if you support the kind of work that SDR does on a daily basis, we ask that you PLEASE show your support by donating just $10 during our $10 TAILathon. Of course we'd LOVE more if you're feeling generous and passionate about our cause, but even $10 can do so much when you SHARE THIS and SPREAD THE WORD and get others to join you in giving!
You can play an integral role in helping these dogs on their road to becoming healthy and eventually being adopted into safe and loving homes forever.
To donate, simply click on the "Donate" button over on the right side of this page or send a check to the address listed.
JUST $10 – WE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
Hello SDR Friends,
SDR recently received a donation of Merrick- Mini Brush Bones (for dogs 5-15lbs) and Li’l Brush Bones (for dogs 15-25lbs). These are dental chews that are all-natural, grain free and gluten free. What does this mean for you? You can purchase a bag ($5) or a case ($30) and all proceeds will go to SDR. We currently have 6 cases (36 bags) of Li’l Bones and 51 cases (306 bags) of Mini Bones.
These are all located in the south metro area, so shipping to you would probably be the best method. Please add $6 for a single bag or $10 if you buy a case of 6. Payment can be made through Pay Pal via the Small Dog Rescue Facebook page and this website (smalldogsminnesota.org). Please click the “donate” link on the right side of this page, note how many bags or cases you would like and include your mailing address in the section in PayPal labeled "Add special instructions to the seller".
If you do live in the Twin Cities metro area and are willing to meet along the 35E corridor or East St. Paul, please contact Vicki Crocker (firstname.lastname@example.org). Cash or check will be accepted at time of pick up.
Questions? Feel free to ask! And please re-post this on your Facebook page to spread the word!

Happy Adopt a Senior Pet Month! We are celebrating our wonderful group of adoptable senior dogs and the many ways they make great companions!!
Too often these sweet dogs get passed up and looked over because "they are just going to die soon" or "I don't want to get attached to them and then have them die"; however, EVERY MOMENT spent with a dog - especially a senior rescue dog - is a chance to enrich both lives with a special bond and kind of love that you can only experience with an older dog. You have been through a LOT in your life and lived to tell about it.....and so have they. Talk about a great buddy to swap stories and shake heads at the 'kids today' with!
Many of our senior dogs have been displaced due to their human passing away or having to go to a senior or assisted living facility and they are unsure about why they are in this position and what's going to happen to them. They are looking for a safe place to go to find love and a new bond with another special human or family they can call their own. Please check them out HERE on our adoptable dogs page and consider opening your heart and home to a senior dog who deserves love, companionship, and security for all of the remaining days (and moments) of their lives, no matter how many.
