Pupdate from Rowdy's guardian/ foster failure:
"Happy one year home anniversary Rowdy (brown boots)! Rowdy was lost and on his own for almost 6 months from July to January last year and is a SDR pup who escaped from a potential adopter. He is truly a miracle dog who now hates the cold! I am so happy to have you back Rowdy!"
SDR is looking for donations for our wine and chocolate event that is held in February. Donations could be gift certificates or baskets of items. If you, your business, or a family member or friend has something to donate, please email Erin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is Chico, one of our new foster dogs, and Julie one of our new foster moms. Chico was surrendered because his owner was put in a home and will not be able to leave. She has no family around, and neighbors were taking turns going to the house taking care of Chico until we could bring him in and his owner agreed.
Julie took Chico to visit his momma yesterday in the care center she now lives in 💗
The care center sent us these pictures and heartwarming note: "We seriously cannot thank you enough for Chico's visit today! It made her day, as you could see. You said all the right things and she's totally content knowing he's VERY well taken care of 😊."
This is why we do what we do. Fostering saves lives. Adopt don't shop.
💚The rescue tail of Scruffy the tiny terrier💚
In early October SDR was contacted by PUPS, the impound in Maple Grove, about a stray dog. A small terrier mix was found in someone's back yard, very thin, almost emaciated, weighing only 7 lbs.
SDR quickly found a foster family and tagged the dog, still unnamed, for rescue. Once in rescue he gained the name "Scruffy" and received all his vet care. With a clean bill of health, Scruffy caught the eye of an approved adopter, and now has an amazing new mom!
Aren't they adorable!?!? Congrats Scruffy on your quick rise from rags to riches 💗

Chopper is a small 20-25 pound mixed breed dog, he is part dash hound, jack Russell, pug
He is black with tan markings and some white on his chest
He went missing December 1st, 2 miles east of Grand Marais, MN…he got off his leash. He doesn’t have his tags on and he doesn’t have a chip. He may still have his collar on, it is a fake leather collar
We are hoping someone may have seen him on hwy 61 and picked him up…maybe he got a ride to DULUTH, TWO HARBORS, THUNDER BAY ONT, or he could be anywhere
Chopper is pictured with our other 2 little dogs…Chopper is the black one…
Please help us find him!
A tale of 2 Ratties:
Pupdate, Adoption announcement, and Special thanks to a special adopter!
In 2011 Melissa met Patch the Rat Terrier, an SDR senior and volunteer favorite, and he immediately stole her heart. Patch was in foster care for 3 years before Melissa welcomed him into her home. She quickly realized what a special little dog she had and her family was complete.
Sadly, tragedy struck recently and little Patch left for the rainbow bridge. Heartbroken, Melissa contacted SDR about her loss. "I can't believe how lucky I was to get Patch. He was the most amazing little angel and I loved him with all my heart. Patch had been doing really well and in fact he had a full vet visit (xray, ultrasound, and blood work) two months ago and everything was normal. At 3:00 am on November 19 Patch started breathing heavily and grabbed to take him to the ER. I got two blocks from home and he was gone. My vet thinks it might have been an embolism since he was perfectly fine. I am so sad and angry I don't have my sweet angel."
In contacting SDR about losing Patch, Melissa learned about Lucky another senior Rat Terrier currently in rescue at SDR and looking for a new foster home. It must have been fate because Melissa felt drawn to Lucky and decided to make him a permanent part of her family!
Melissa was in the process of adopting a Shepherd mix named Leonard when she found Lucky. The two seem like they will make a great pair, and on Friday Melissa's fur family became complete! Melissa writes, "Lucky is the best Christmas present ever! I think Patchy sent Lucky to me from heaven. And Lucky and Leonard are doing great!"
Thank you so much Melissa for taking such amazing care of Patch and opening your heart to 2 more homeless pups in tribute to the little One-Eyed Bootlegger 💚 Patch, you touched so many hearts and will be greatly missed 💔

It's "Foster Failure Friday" again and we promise not to fail in featuring our latest Foster-Turned-Forever Home.
